Pet adoption has increased since the start of the pandemic and these family creatures are influencing home choices. According to the National Association of Realtors, 43 percent of pet owners will move to better meet their pet’s needs while 68 percent said they will pass on an otherwise ideal home if it isn’t suitable for their pets.

In general, pet owners are looking for a backyard that is fenced in, an outdoor play area, trails and sidewalks in the neighborhood, adequate indoor space ad durable flooring.

With 79.8 million pet-owning households in the U.S., pet-friendly homes are becoming more and more the rage. From small amenities: “smart” pet doors to elaborate washing and grooming areas to separate living spaces for the animals, the needs of pets – and their owners – are increasingly being offered n new homes.

Of course, the advantages are two-fold: automated feeders, comfortable bedding, pet-food and toy cabinets, puppy run access are all to the benefit of the animals while keeping the needs of the animals separate from common living areas.
