Easy to Get a Mortgage? 54% Think So

A recent Fannie Mae National Housing Survey polling 1000 Americans’ attitude toward housing market reveals their growing confidence in the economy combined with a stronger employment outlook are “leading to improved attitudes about the housing market.”
This is highlighted by the fact that 54% think that current economic conditions make it relatively easy to obtain a mortgage.

Also according to the survey:

  • The percentage of respondents who say home prices will go up in the next 12 months is 46 percent, while those who say home prices will go down is 6 percent.
  • The percentage of respondents surveyed who say mortgage rates will rise in the next 12 months is 48 percent.
  • The percentage of those surveyed who say now is a good time to buy a home is 67 percent while the number who say now is a good time to sell fell is 40 percent.
  • The percentage of respondents who expect their personal financial situation to improve over the next 12 months is 46 percent.
