Mortgage rates climb

Mortgage rates have climbed to 6.71%, the highest level since July 2025.

To add to the consternation of would-be buyers, home prices increased 1.5% annually in June, up from 1.2% in May.

Of course, inflation remains a persistent problem – will the Fed actually raise rates – and the ongoing economic uncertainty has brought the housing market to a near standstill.
