The news is (fairly) good in the housing market for buyers even as mortgage rates increase as the Iran peace deal unravels. Analysts expect existing-home prices to increase a modest 1.2% through the rest of 2026.
On the other side of the coin, inventory of existing-homes for sale is thought to increase by 3.6%, down considerably from an earlier projected rate of 8.9%. New construction is believed to increase by only 2%, down from 3.1% predicted at the beginning of the year.
