Gen X: Caring for parents, adult children

Members of Generation X (born 1965 to 1980) currently occupy an interesting niche in the housing market. Many are are caring for aging parents (boomers) while at the same time helping to support their adult children.

They often live in suburban areas which no longer fit their lifestyle as they would prefer to be less car dependent with walking accessibility a priority.

Some are adding on to their existing homes to provide room for aging parents or dependent children. Others are pooling money from parents and/or children to help them afford a larger house.
