Foreclosures were up significantly during the first three months of 2026. 118,727 properties nationwide had foreclosure filings, representing 1 in every 1,211 housing units.
Indiana had the highest rate with 1 in every 739 followed by South Carolina (1 in every 743), Florida (1 in every 750, Delaware (1 in every 757, and Illinois (1 in every 833).
Analysts agreed that manufacturing and tourism are important staples for each of these states. Given the global trade war and the economic slowdown, it’s no wonder times are tough in these areas.
