March 2025 saw 35,890 properties in the United States receive foreclosure filings. This was up 11% as compared with February and an increase of 9% year over year.
From January through March, the national rate of foreclosure was 1 in every 1,515 housing units. Delaware had the highest foreclosure rate (1 in every 761 housing units) followed by Illinois (1 in 857), Nevada (1 in 874), Indiana (1 in 976), and South Carolina (1 in 1,021).
The metro areas with a population of at least 200,000 with the highest rates included Columbia, SC; Lakeland, FL; Bakersfield, CA; Riverside, CA and Chico, CA.
