Crescent Village in San Jose – a model for the future?

The largest apartment complex built in the United States in the last decade is Crescent Village in San Jose. As a master-planned community with Starbucks, pizza, Indian food, etc. this may be one possible way to cope with California’s housing crisis.

One benefit of master-planned developments is cheaper construction costs with fewer trips for permits etc.

Of course, increased traffic is a common problem and many residents only rent briefly before moving on. Other complaints include a lack of community services such as libraries and community centers.
